Seth describes himself as energy personality essence that is no longer focused on physical reality. Seth (channelled by Jane Roberts) explains the nature of human reality. Here are some main points and messages:
Part 1: Lessons from pages 1-30:
Consciousness creates form. Personality is not physical. People are an energy personality essence, focused now in physical matter, but the physical senses cannot give us a true picture of reality.
No knowledge exists in a vacuum and all information must be interpreted and coloured by the personality who hold the knowledge and passes it on to us.
We create the world as we know it. We project our thoughts outward into physical forma. We even form the body at a deeply unconscious level.
Consciousness is a way of perceiving the various dimensions of reality.
The soul carries memories from past-lives; knowledge from subjective dimensions.
The communication from our soul to us is quicker than when speak using words.
There’s no real ‘division’ in the self; it’s all one self. Personality is multi-dimensional. Personality is not a ‘here and now’ attribute of consciousness, but rather a multitude of dimensions. Your ‘self’ (as you know it) is only a fragment of your entire identity, however we perceive mostly the outer aspects of objects.
Everything has awareness or consciousness of their self, even a nail or a rock has consciousness. We are made of cells that willingly cooperate to form our physical bodies.
There’s no death or dead matter; as there’s no limitation of the self. A cell is part of a body, which is part of the environment, a part of God, and so on. Our true sense of identity and continuity is not dependent upon the ego.
Personality is a gestalt of ever-changing perception. Sometimes when one dies he doesn’t realize it. He does not know he died. However, remember that any form of birth almost always follows a sharp and sudden recognition of a new world. This is true also to the state of so-call death.
No objective reality truly exists. Realities are created by consciousness. You can form whatever images you want to surround you. These images are created mentally. Objects are manifestations of your own psychological and psychic self.
Permanency and stability have nothing to do with form, but with integration of pleasure, purpose, accomplishment and identity. I [Seth] form my own physical image at an unconscious level at every moment as a direct result of my inner conceptions of what I am. I can manipulate thoughts to follow each nuance of my inner experience. Evolution is a process of consciousness constantly changing, all the time. Telepathy is communication through thermal and electromagnetic images.
One feels much freer to experience when one is not afraid of being swept away by feelings. In any case, everybody knows your feelings on a deep level, so you do not need to hide anything. Do not conceal your emotions because in truth it’s impossible and undesirable.
You can travel through your emotions and even through the emotions of other people. Do not be afraid or threatened by them, rather use them, and creatively translate them.
Identity is not dependant upon form, therefore one can adopt any form one desires, and blend into other environments. Consciousness always seeks to create form.
The only separation that exists occurs because of people’s ability to perceive and manipulate things. We exist in the midst of other systems of realities, but we do not perceive them or interpret them because we’re too focused on the physical environment. Time doesn’t exist either; it’s a perceptional framework.
We can easily follow a consciousness through all its forms, but we just don’t tend to focus on this.
If one feels that the room seems smaller then it is indeed so. The feeling will attract certain kinds of events and will alter your own psychological structure and hormonal output, although if we measure the size of the room it will seem the same size as before. That is because the size has changed as well… Instruments of measurements within such rooms will alter themselves because they are also created by us.
I am constantly changing the form, shape, contour, and meaning of my body and my environment. Spiritual and psychological identities are dependent upon creative change. Our environment is composed of imbalances where change is allowed to play. The permanency of physical matter is misleading.
You can learn to change your physical environment by learning to change and manipulate your dream environment.
Consciousness cannot ‘un-be’, therefore it must show itself in every form. Using the inner senses we become conscious creators, co-creators in our reality.
Distance is not space.
A tree is different to a microbe, a bird, an insect, and people. It does only ‘appear’ to be different, rather it is different.
We can perceive only the valid reality of a ‘tree’ in the context to our own reality. A ‘tree’ is a being the same way that people are beings. The physical picture is simply one picture out of infinite number of ways to perceive various forms (of the tree) through which the consciousness expresses itself. The physical senses force you to translate experience into physical perceptions. The inner senses open your range of perception. The consciousness is a spontaneous exercise in creativity.
We are deeply fascinated with the physical reality and we are in a deep trance now. That is why we ignore so many other realities. All our attention is focused upon one situation which we call ‘reality’ while ignoring all the others.
We are free to choose our thoughts with some discrimination and finesse. Thoughts have huge powers…
